We all know babies think with their tummies – so why not try reading aloud the words on food packets; your cereal box at breakfast, yogurt or ketchup at dinner.

With just two tins in your hands – ask older toddlers if they want Tomato Soup or Scotch Broth for lunch? They’ll feel all grown-up by helping you make these big decisions. (Just make sure you don’t show them something you don’t fancy eating!) You’ll be teaching them new words and you might find that you learn a few things about your food too.
