Seasonal flu is much more serious than you may think. Seasonal flu is a virus that can cause chills, fever and a sore throat and, if you have heart or lung problems or are 65 or over, it will hit you hardest.

Who needs the seasonal flu vaccination

Anyone who suffers from heart or lung problems, or is 65 or over, should get the seasonal flu vaccine. Conditions and diseases which can make flu much more dangerous include: asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, diabetes and HIV infection.

How the seasonal flu vaccine works

The seasonal flu vaccine takes around ten days to work and will protect you from seasonal flu for around a year. And you have to get vaccinated annually, because the virus develops different strains, and last year's vaccine won't protect you from this year's seasonal flu virus.
