Educational & Day Care for Children Premises Guide
This guidance is applicable to general fire safety in educational premises and premises used for day care of children. This includes:
- Universities and colleges;
- Local authority, independent and grant-aided schools; and
- Premises used for day care of children.
The guide does not apply to those parts of educational and day care premises in which there is overnight sleeping accommodation, or to premises used for child-minding purposes. However, the Chief Fire Officers' Association (Scotland) has produced "Fire Precautions in Domestic Childminding Premises: A Guide for Childminders" which is available to be viewed here.
As work progressed on the series of fire safety guides, a number of changes were made to the earlier guides, including Practical Fire Safety Guidance for Educational & Day Care for Children Premises. These changes were made in order to ensure consistency across the series, especially in respect of generic text. The revised guide is available in HTML and PDF format as well as being searchable from the search page:
