Who can you speak to?
If you’re worried about a child or young person, call the National Child Protection Line free on 0800 022 3222.
What help does the Child Protection Line provide?
The Child Protection Line operator will listen to your concerns carefully.
Depending on where you live and the nature of your call, one of three things will happen:
- the operator will transfer you to the best person to speak to
- the operator will leave details of your inquiry with the right organisation
- the operator will give you details of who you should speak to next.
What should you tell them?
Usually, you won’t have to go into detail until you are speaking with the best person to respond to your concerns.
Give as much information as you can about the child or young person and their family or carer.
Describe what it was that you saw or heard and what it was that concerned you.
Let the person know if there are other things they should be aware of, for example, the immediate risks for the child or any other child.
